Clan Trust increases annual donations to support Norfolk youth, community and agricultural innovation
Norfolk-based charity the Clan Trust announces significant contributions to support young people in agriculture, elderly and the community, and agricultural research across the region.
Founded in 1968, the Clan Trust has long been dedicated to supporting local communities. This year, the Trust is proud to announce its annual donations have totalled £160,000, supporting a wide range of projects throughout Norfolk.
Youth in Agriculture
Through its annual Scholarship and other youth-centred initiatives, the Clan Trust supports a range of projects aimed at educating young people on agriculture and the environment.
Recent donations include support for the Food, Farming and Discovery Trust’s educational programmes, The Papillion Project’s school allotments, and Norfolk Young Farmers clubs – each providing young people with the skills and inspiration to pursue careers in agriculture.
Elderly and the Community
The Trust also prioritises projects that enhance the quality of life for Norfolk’s senior residents. This year, donations went to organisations such as West Norfolk Befriending, North Norfolk Community Transport, and Community Hub Dementia Gardens.
These funds are helping to build a stronger support network for the elderly in Norfolk, increasing accessibility to resources and services.
Agricultural Innovation
To support advancements in sustainable farming, the Trust has contributed to the NIAB Potato Research Development Programme this year, which focuses on improving crop quality, production efficiency, and overall sustainability in agriculture.
Such projects are essential to addressing the challenges faced by today’s farmers while supporting the future of the industry.
Ben Turner, newly appointed Chairman of the Clan Trust, spoke on this year’s milestone.
“Our mission is to invest in Norfolk’s future by supporting the young people, communities, and innovative agricultural research that makes this region what it is. This year, we’ve been able to increase our donations and are grateful for the donors who have made this possible.”
Clan Trust Vice Chairwoman, Caroline Steggles says, “This year’s donations reflect our commitment to making a meaningful impact across the region, and we are delighted to have supported a diverse range of charities and projects through these contributions,”
